You
can password protect folders in your account without having to deal with
the hassle of .htaccess. To password protect a directory in your site, log
in to CPanel. From there, click on the button labeled Web
Protect listed under "Site Management Tools". On the next page,
a list of all of the folders in your site will appear. Click on the one
you wish to protect. On the next page, there should be a text box labeled
"Protected Resource Name". In that, type what you want to appear on the
password prompt that opens up when a user tries to access the directory.
Then click on
. Now at the bottom of that page, enter a username and password that you
wish to use to access the directory and click
. You may also add additional users if you wish. If you need more help
with password protecting folders, email
